Welcome, ECFS families
Fieldston Upper partners with Autonautics International Driving School to provide a driver’s education program for all students at ECFS and in the surrounding community.
The driver’s education program is offered on a semester basis: fall and spring. Students are taught in the classroom and in the vehicle by New York State-accredited teachers licensed to provide a comprehensive introduction to their driving experience. The primary goal is to teach the safe, efficient operation of a motor vehicle and to develop the proper habits and attitudes needed for defensive driving.
Registration Information
Fall semester
Driver’s Ed consists of two components, a lecture class and hands-on driving practice. The lecture portion of the fall semester will run from Thursday 10/1 through Thursday 2/4, with sessions available at either 4:00pm or 5:00pm. Students participating in Driver’s Ed must also complete six hours of driving practice with an instructor.
A free digital version of the Driver's Ed textbook will be provided.
Eligibility
Students interested in registering for the fall semester must be sixteen years old by 9/25/26 and must have obtained a NYS Learner’s Permit or non-Driver ID before the program begins. Students who do not meet these requirements are at risk of being withdrawn from the class.
