The Learning Center, an integral part of Fieldston, provides support to students in 6th–8th Grades who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities. We provide support in a variety of ways including pushing into classrooms, small groups, and one on one. Students are also encouraged to meet with their teachers on an as-needed basis.
In addition, our role is to be a resource to faculty, administrators, parents/guardians, and the entire ECFS community. Referrals to the Learning Center can come from teachers, students, Deans, or parents/guardians.
The Learning Center provides help in several ways, including:
- Collaborating with faculty and administrators about learning issues and how to address them in the classroom;
- Coordinating and consulting with the School’s psychologists and outside tutors;
- Collaborating with the Learning Styles Committee of the P+T;
- Communicating relevant information from educational evaluations to teachers and oversees in-school accommodations;
- Acting as a liaison with the SAT and ACT coordinator for students with disabilities who need test accommodations.
