Last month, the Ethical Culture Book Fair committee was thrilled to welcome the community to the Fair — in person for the first time in two years! There was a great selection of books for students of all ages to choose from.
According to Ethical Culture Principal Rob Cousins, “The Book Fair was a huge success. Students were given fake $20 bills when they visited the Fair and, in almost every class, the students decided independently that they would pool the money they didn’t spend to buy additional books, sometimes for their teachers and sometimes for their buddy class.”
In addition to shopping for books, this year’s Book Fair featured four special events with award-winning published authors: Sloane Crosley, known for her humorous essays collections, including the Thurber Prize for American Humor finalists “I Was Told There’d Be Cake”; Christopher Healy, the author of “The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom,” a New York Times Book Review Editor’s Choice; Eva Chen, a journalist, director of fashion partnerships at Instagram, and children’s book author; and a special visit from alumna Jessie Janowitz ’91, author of Junior Library Guild selections “The Doughnut Fix” and “The Doughnut King.”
Special thanks to Megan Vlasto, Rebecca Gordon, Kate Lee, and Alison Sherman who co-chaired the Book Fair committee and made this year’s event such a wonderful experience for all!
