In mid-September, the Jewish Parents/Caregivers Affinity Group, Jewish Faculty Affinity Group, and Jewish Student Affinity Group hosted a celebration of Sukkot.
The ECFS community worked together to assemble a sukkah — a temporary dwelling which reminds us to appreciate the shelter of our homes and our bodies — and gathered two days later to shake the lulav and etrog and enjoy time together on the Quad.
“The parents; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team; Facilities team; and our Dining Services team all worked together to provide an experience for the entire community,” says Russell Marsh, Director of Community and Inclusion. “This was a community lift.”
“It was really meaningful to have a sukkah on campus, built by the parents, for everyone to learn about and enjoy. As a school community, it was so nice for so many members of our community (both Jewish and not Jewish) to be able to eat together and just and connect with one another,” says Stephanie Behrens, Fieldston Middle Science Teacher, Grade Level Coordinator, and Jewish Affinity Group Advisor.
